Split Pea with Ham Soup

Another really good soup to add to your recipe box!



Split Pea with Ham Soup

(Yield: 8-10 servings)

Ingredients:
1 pound dried split peas, rinsed and drained
4 cups chicken broth*
4 cups water
1 cup chopped carrot
1 cup chopped celery
1 medium onion, chopped
1 large raw potato, peeled and chopped
Ham or Smoked Sausage, cut in chunks*
2 teaspoons minced garlic
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon Homemade Cajun Seasoning

Directions:
Place all ingredients in a slow cooker; cover and cook on high for 6 hours, or until peas are soft.
Serve.

*Use vegetable broth instead of chicken broth and omit meat for vegetarian split pea soup.
